Who we are
Alto Pro Painters does residential and commercial painting across the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys. We paint the inside and outside of houses, townhomes, condos, rentals and small commercial spaces, and we handle the repair work that has to happen before any colour goes on a wall.
Our approach is simple and a little old-fashioned. We explain the job before it starts, we put the details in writing, and we spend more of our effort on preparation than most people expect. A paint job is judged for years after the crew leaves, and nearly everything that decides how it looks and how long it lasts happens before the first coat.
Licensed, insured and WCB-covered
Alto Pro Painters is licensed, insured and WCB-covered. That protects you and your property, and it means the crew in your home is covered while they work. If you need proof for your strata council, property manager or insurer, ask when you request your quote and we will provide it.

How Alto Pro Painters works with local crews
Alto Pro Painters connects homeowners and businesses with experienced, licensed painting professionals in their area, and may contract a job to a reputable, insured and WCB-covered painting company to make sure the work is done properly. The painting professional you speak to will be your contact from the first call until the job is complete.
That professional is responsible for the work, the schedule, the billing and all liabilities on your job. Alto Pro Painters is not responsible for disputes, payment handling, transactions, damages, bookings or claims between you and the contractor who performs the work. Phone calls may be recorded for record keeping. You can read the full terms and conditions here.
What we believe about a good paint job
Paint is the thin, visible layer on top of a lot of unseen work. A fresh coat over a loose patch, a greasy wall or a cracked caulk line will look fine for a few weeks and then start to fail. We would rather tell you what a wall really needs than hand you a quote that hides the prep.
That is why we ask questions before we talk about colour. How old is the home? What is under the current finish? Are there stains, damp spots or old wallpaper? Is there a strata involved? The answers change the plan, and they are much cheaper to deal with on paper than halfway through the job.
- Prep comes first, because it decides how the finish looks and how long it holds.
- Everything is in writing, so you know what is included before work begins.
- Plain talk about what the job needs, including the parts that are not exciting.
- A calm, tidy crew that treats your home or workplace with care.
The paint we use
We use professional-quality paints from Sherwin-Williams, General Paint and Benjamin Moore, unless you ask for a different brand. Your written quote names the product and finish for each surface.

How a job works with us
Every project follows the same path, whether it is one bedroom or an entire building. The steps below are the ones you can expect.
- Request a free written quote. Tell us what you want painted and send a few photos if you can. The quote lists the surfaces, the prep, the paint and the timeline.
- Pre-job call. Before we start, we phone to confirm colours, finish details and what needs to be cleared out of the way.
- Paint day begins with a walk through the rooms. We cover floors, move and cover furniture, and look over every surface again.
- Repairs and prep. We fill holes and cracks, repair drywall, remove wallpaper if it is part of the job, and caulk trim and windows.
- Priming and painting. Stains and patched areas get primed so they do not show through, then the finish coats go on.
- Final walkthrough. We go through the work with you while the paint is still fresh, so any touch-ups are handled right away.
- Clean-up. Once you have signed off, we clear our materials and leave the space tidy.
Homes, strata units and commercial space
Residential work is most of what we do: interiors, exteriors, cabinets, fences and decks, ceilings and feature walls. Condos and townhomes bring their own rules, so we ask early about strata bylaws, approved colours and permitted work hours. Exterior changes to common property normally need strata approval, and it is better to sort that out before booking a date.
Commercial work has a different rhythm. Offices, shops and rental units often need to stay usable, so we plan around your schedule and agree on what gets finished in which order. The same written quote and the same walkthrough apply.
Older homes and the things we check first
If a house was built before 1990, we raise lead paint before anything gets sanded or scraped. Health Canada considers lead paint probable in homes built before 1960 and possible between 1960 and 1990, so we ask the age of the home and plan testing before the surface is disturbed. Textured ceilings in older homes can also contain asbestos, which means a test comes before scraping.
These are not reasons to put a job off. They are the kind of detail that is easy to handle when it is planned and awkward when it is discovered mid-job.

Talking to us
The quickest way to start is the quote form, which takes a couple of minutes and lets you attach photos. If you would rather talk it through first, call (778) 760-0346. Either way, you will get a straight answer about what the job involves and what it needs.
When you are ready, request a free written quote and we will take it from there. You can also browse the full list of painting services to see what we cover.
