A good drywall repair is one nobody can find afterwards. Run a hand across the wall, look along it with a light shining sideways, and nothing should catch. That is the standard we work to when we patch holes, cracks and dents in Kaleden houses, and it is why we count repair and painting as one job rather than two.
Common callouts here include doorknob holes behind a bedroom door, cracks that open above windows, ceiling stains where something once leaked, and the pockmarked walls left when shelves or a TV mount come down. Tell us what you can see and we will say what each one needs.
Repairs we handle
- Small holes and dents, filled in layers and sanded flush
- Larger holes, cut square and patched with new board and taped joints
- Cracks at corners, door heads and window corners, opened out and repaired so they do not reappear
- Popped nail or screw heads, reset below the surface and covered
- Water-stained ceilings, once the source is fixed, sealed with stain-blocking primer
- Feathering and texture matching so the repair blends in before painting
Why cracks and stains show up in lake homes
Houses move. Timber framing swells and shrinks with the season, and a cottage that sits closed through winter and then gets heated hard in spring can show it in a hairline crack or two. Most of these are cosmetic, but a crack that keeps coming back, or one that is wide enough to slide a coin into, deserves a closer look before we fill it.
Kaleden homes also live with plumbing in bathrooms and kitchens that go unused for weeks at a time. A slow drip is easy to miss. If the drywall is soft, bubbled or smells musty, we will tell you to have the source checked first; fixing the plumbing before the patch is the only way the patch will last.

How a patch goes from hole to wall
- Diagnose. We press on the damaged area, check behind it where we can and decide between a simple fill, a board patch or a larger section replacement.
- Build the repair. Joint compound goes on in thin layers with drying time between them. Deep spots take more passes than most people expect.
- Sand and prime. Dust is controlled while we sand, then the patch is primed so it does not soak up the topcoat and show as a dull spot.
- Paint to blend. We coat the whole wall to its natural break rather than dabbing the patch, which is the only dependable way to hide it.

Drywall Repair in Kaleden: questions
Do you need to paint the entire room after a patch?
Not always, but the whole wall usually has to be recoated, corner to corner. Touching up one spot almost always shows because old paint fades and the sheen differs.
What about a ceiling that has a water stain?
Once the leak is stopped and the area dry, we seal the stain with a blocking primer and then paint. If the board has sagged or gone soft, it is cut out and replaced first.
Can you match an old textured wall?
Often, yes, by using spray or hand techniques that copy the surrounding pattern. A perfect match is not always possible, so we show you a test patch if you ask.
