A deck is where an Osoyoos summer gets spent, which is also why it wears out first. Sun, foot traffic, spilled drinks and the odd forgotten flower pot all break down an outdoor finish, and a fence takes the same weather without the benefit of a roof.
We clean, repair and refinish decks, railings, stairs, privacy fences and gates. The quote lists the surfaces, the preparation and whether we recommend a stain or a paint, so you can compare the options before deciding.
What we do on outdoor wood
- Cleaning with a deck wash to lift grime, algae and old weathered fibres
- Stripping or sanding failed film finishes back to sound wood
- Replacing or flagging loose boards, split rails and rusted fasteners
- Sanding rough spots and splinters, especially around stairs and railings
- Staining, sealing or painting boards, rails, posts and caps
- Coating fence faces, tops and gates, including the edges that are easy to miss
A lake town that lives outdoors
Osoyoos sits beside a warm lake, and outdoor space is part of how people use their homes here. A tired deck gets noticed because it is where guests sit and kids run barefoot. Railings and stairs deserve extra attention since splinters and loose rails are safety matters, not only looks.
Wood needs to be dry before it takes a finish, so we do not coat damp boards. We check the product data sheet for temperature and drying limits and book the job when the weather suits. If the deck is a piece of the summer plan, the spring is a practical time to finish it, well before the first party.

How deck and fence work is sequenced
- Inspect and quote. We check boards, rails, posts and the existing finish, and the free written quote names the prep and the product type we propose.
- Clean and repair. The surface is washed, left to dry fully, then sanded; any damaged parts are marked for repair before coating.
- Coat the wood. Stain or paint goes on in the planned coats, with end grain and horizontal surfaces getting extra attention.
- Cure and review. We walk the finished deck or fence with you, explain how long to keep off it and tidy up the site.

Fence and Deck Painting in Osoyoos: questions
Should I stain or paint my deck?
A stain lets the grain show and wears away gradually. Paint hides more flaws but can peel if the wood moves, so it asks for tighter prep. We explain both in the quote.
Can you do just the railings and stairs?
Yes. Those areas often wear the fastest, and they can be quoted on their own if the deck boards still look good.
How long should I stay off a freshly coated deck?
It depends on the product and the weather. We tell you the keep-off time for the specific finish at the end of the job, and heavy furniture should wait a bit longer.
