Wallpaper is the one finish that cannot hide behind its own surface. If the wall under it is lumpy, you will see it. If the pattern drifts a few millimetres, you will see that too. A well-hung room looks calm. A badly hung one pulls your eye to every seam.
Most of what we do on a wallpaper job happens before the first roll is cut. Walls are repaired, sealed and checked, and then the layout is planned from the starting point that will hide the awkward join.
What a wallpaper job covers
- Feature walls behind beds, sofas and dining tables
- Full rooms such as powder rooms, offices and nurseries
- Wall repair, sanding and sealing so paper bonds evenly
- Layout planning to centre the pattern and keep joins out of sight
- Trimming around windows, outlets, switch plates and door casings
- Removal of old wallpaper first if the walls are already papered
Choosing paper for a Kelowna room
Where the paper goes matters as much as which paper you buy. A bathroom with a poor fan or a kitchen wall near the stove needs a vinyl or washable product, while a bedroom can take a delicate print. We suggest bringing a sample of the roll to the quote visit so we can check the repeat and the backing.
Daylight shows seams and uneven walls, so we check the wall at an angle to the window before we hang. That is the same angle your guests will see it from, and any lump we find gets sanded or filled first.
Lighting fixtures and outlets also affect the plan. We turn off the power at the panel, remove cover plates, and trim the paper cleanly around each opening. Mention any special details such as a niche, a curved wall or a sloped ceiling so the layout can allow for them.

How we hang paper
- Check the roll. We confirm the pattern repeat, the batch number and the quantity before anything is cut.
- Prepare the wall. We patch, sand and seal the wall so it is smooth, clean and evenly absorbent.
- Plan the layout. A plumb line is marked from the chosen starting point, so the first drop sets the whole room straight.
- Hang, trim, clean. Each drop is matched, smoothed and trimmed, and paste is cleaned off the paper and the trim.

Wallpaper Hanging in Kelowna: questions
How many rolls do I need?
It depends on the room height and the pattern repeat. We can calculate it at the quote visit, and we suggest ordering a little extra from the same batch.
Can wallpaper go over painted walls?
Yes, once the walls are sound, clean and sealed. A glossy paint may need scuff sanding for the adhesive to hold.
Do you supply the wallpaper?
Most customers choose their own. If you want us to source it, say so in your request and we will go over the options with you.
