Drywall repair is the part of a paint job nobody sees when it is done right. In Peachland homes we patch dents from door handles, holes left by wall anchors, cracks along ceiling lines and stained sections where water once got in.
A repair needs to be flat, sanded and sealed before paint, or it flashes through as a lighter or rougher patch. We treat the patch and the paint as one process.
Small repairs are quick, but larger ones take several visits because compound needs to dry between layers. We explain the sequence up front, so you know why a wall may sit looking patchy for a day before it is ready for primer.
Repairs we do
- Small nail and screw holes filled and sanded
- Larger holes cut out and patched with new board
- Cracks at corners, door frames and ceiling lines
- Failed or lifting tape on joints
- Water-damaged sections cut out, replaced and primed
- Texture matching where a patch interrupts an existing finish
Fixing damage before it gets painted over
Peachland sits beside Okanagan Lake on the west side, and houses built on slopes can settle over time, which sometimes shows as hairline cracks above doors and along ceilings. Repainting without fixing those cracks only hides them for a short while.
If a stain on a ceiling or wall is from a past leak, we ask you to confirm the source has been fixed. Patching over an active leak is wasted effort, and a damp wall will push new paint off.
If the damage covers more than a few patches, the quote will list each one with its size and fix. That gives you a clear picture before work starts, and it makes the final walkthrough simple, since we can tick off each repair together.
Paint colour and sheen change how visible a repair is. Dark colours and glossier finishes pick up every ripple under raking light, so on a wall with heavy patching we may suggest a flatter sheen. We would rather tell you that during the quote than have you notice it after the job.

The repair routine
- Find the cause. We look for why the damage happened, such as a leak, a loose stud or a nail pop, so the repair stays put.
- Cut and patch. Damaged board is removed back to solid material and new drywall or a patch is fastened in.
- Mud and sand. Several thin coats of compound are applied and sanded between each so the surface ends up flat.
- Prime and blend. Primer seals the compound, and the wall is painted so the repair disappears into the surrounding finish.

Drywall Repair in Peachland: questions
Will a patch show through the paint afterward?
Not if it is feathered wide, sanded smooth and primed. Flat paint hides more than glossy sheens, so sheen choice matters too.
Can you match my existing wall texture?
Often, for common textures. Tell us about it at the quote stage and we will say plainly how close we can get.
Is mould a concern with water-stained drywall?
If board is soft, musty or visibly mouldy, it should be removed rather than painted. We flag it in the quote and ask you to deal with the moisture source first.
