Cabinet Painting in Peachland

Cabinet painting in Peachland: degreased, sanded, primed and finished for a tough, smooth result without replacing the boxes.

If your Peachland kitchen cabinets are solid but the colour is tired, repainting them can change the room as much as new doors would. The catch is that cabinets take more abuse than any wall, so the process has to be tougher than a normal paint job.

Cooking grease, hand oils and daily door slams are the enemies of cabinet paint. Our job is to clean, scuff and prime properly so the finish keeps its grip.

Cabinet painting is slower than wall painting because of the drying time between coats. We lay out doors on racks in a workspace so each coat can dry flat, which avoids drips and gives a more even surface than painting doors upright.

What cabinet painting involves

  • Kitchen cabinet doors, drawer fronts and face frames
  • Bathroom vanities and linen cupboards
  • Doors and drawers removed, labelled and set up for finishing
  • Degreasing and scuff sanding of every surface
  • Bonding primer and a hard-wearing cabinet enamel
  • Hinges and hardware removed, or swapped for new pieces if you supply them

Updating a kitchen without moving out

Dated finishes like orange-toned oak, dark stain or worn white are a common reason people call us about cabinets. Painting suits that situation well when the carpentry underneath is sound, because a new colour and a clean finish can stand in for a full replacement.

Cabinet work also suits a lakeside town where a second home or rental may need a quick update between seasons. The boxes can be painted in place while the doors are finished elsewhere, so the kitchen stays partly usable during the job.

Hardware is a good moment for a change. New pulls and handles can be fitted in the same visit, and we fill the old screw holes if the new pieces are a different size. Bring your hardware choices to the quote so we can plan around them.

The cabinet sequence

  1. Strip and label. Doors and drawers come off and get numbered so every piece goes back where it started.
  2. Clean and key. A degreaser lifts kitchen grime, then a light sanding gives the primer something to grip.
  3. Prime and finish. Bonding primer first, then the finish coats in thin layers, with drying time between each.
  4. Rehang and adjust. Doors return once cured enough to handle, hinges are adjusted so gaps look even, and we do a final check with you.

Cabinet Painting in Peachland: questions

Can laminate or thermofoil cabinets be painted?

Sometimes. They need a bonding primer and careful prep, and some damaged thermofoil is better replaced. We check a sample area during the quote.

How long before I can use the kitchen normally?

Paint feels dry long before it is fully cured. We give you a handling guide at the end, with a gentler period for the first couple of weeks.

Is a brushed finish rougher than a sprayed one?

A good brush and roller technique can come out very smooth, and spraying gives the finest result. We discuss the options and what the quote assumes.
